Today, I am super excited to announce on the Community Page an upcoming collaborative workshop, on Saturday, July 16th, 2-5pm:

Love Patterns: Rising into Union

A workshop for women, seeking an authentic connection to their feminine self and deeper intimacy in relationships.

Committing to your “true” self is sometimes difficult to achieve, because it requires learning to love all of who you are. As women, we have a special, energetic relationship to giving and receiving, at the crux of which lies our unlimited power to transform. Join us as we explore these mysterious facets of the feminine, which allows us to deepen our experience of intimacy.

This two-hour workshop will involve a variety of activities including:

  • Guided meditation
  • Authentic movement
  • Art therapy exercises
  • Open discussion

If you are not able to attend, we are offering an online course to deepen this work from home,Embracing Your Feminine Essence: 8 Practices to Encourage Transformation, Abundance, and Nurturance. 

Through 8 energetically-based, experiential practices (including guided meditations, reading and writing assignments, movement activities, and art activities), this online course will teach you how to reconnect to your feminine self and inhabit your queenly status. This will help you open up to embracing the abundance the universe is just itching to give you!

This online course also  includes audio lectures, written materials, and video tutorials to help you follow along and engage in these practices. The course is broken up into 8 sessions and subject areas:

  1. Your relationship to your femininity
  2. The three feminine aspects
  3. Invoking the divine feminine
  4. Clearing and blessing the womb space
  5. Tapping into your higher knowing and practicing receptivity
  6. Establishing sexual boundaries
  7. Surrender vs. submission
  8. Welcoming abundance

Romona earned her Masters in Education, Emphasis in Counseling Psychology at Teachers College Columbia University.  She is also a certified yoga instructor and currently teaches yoga and meditation at Reflections Center for Conscious Living.  

As a therapist, Romona specializes in mindfulness based psychotherapy, utilizing a blend of eastern wisdom practices with western psychology and theory to create a space for releasing old wounds, healing beyond them, and expanding one’s sense of self.  She worked extensively with trauma providing therapy to women and children survivors of domestic violence at Sanctuary for Families in New York City.  After leaving Sanctuary, she spent time working internationally with an NGO called Kolkata Sanved in West Bengal, India which provides dance movement therapy to street children who were trafficked into sex or domestic labor.  

At present she works with adults who suffer from mood disorders, grief, trauma, and relationship conflicts in private practice.  Her approach infuses the practice of meditation, breath, and somatic awareness techniques alongside insight oriented talk therapy.   In her years of working in the field, she has found the practice of mindfulness to be tremendously effective in bridging the fragmented and dissociated state individuals experience after suffering loss or trauma.

After receiving her master’s degree in Creative Arts Therapy from Pratt Institute in 2006, and subsequently my license and board certification, Briana worked with a variety of populations that struggle with such issues as acute mental illness, HIV, addiction, homelessness, trauma, and relationship issues. She has worked in inpatient, outpatient, school-based, and community-based settings, and have been the director of the Creative Arts Therapies programs at Hartley House and the Women’s Health Center for Housing Works, Inc.

Most recently, Briana spent four years as a research coordinator at the Amen Clinics Inc., an agency focused on using brain scans and SPECT technology to provide accurate diagnosis and integrative treatment for mental health problems, poor nutrition, and other obscure conditions. Dr. Amen has been a guest on CNN, PBS, Dr. Oz, Entertainment Television, Dr. Phil, The View, TedX, Rachel Ray, Larry King, and more. Currently, in addition to private practice, Briana is a professor for Pratt Institute’s Graduate Creative Arts Therapies Department, where she teaches personality development, thesis research, and clinical supervision. Writing, drawing, and painting have always been her passion, and she strongly believes in the curative powers of the creative process.
